Sanlorenzo is always good for a surprise. After the Italians recently expanded their portfolio considerably, for example with the SD132 or the 74SteelSHE is a modern interpretation of a cruiser. Initially, the classic lines of the 25.50 metre long and 6.50 metre wide project catch the eye: sloping stern, slender silhouette, louvred and perforated portholes and diagonal supports of the aft cabin roof, which are reminiscent of homely semi-gliders from Italy in the 1960s.
A closer look reveals modern elements such as the extensive glazing, generously dimensioned outdoor areas and plenty of teak, which is not of organic origin. The deck material is synthetic, which requires less maintenance than natural materials and is said to heat up three to four degrees Celsius less in summer. In addition, the stern opens almost fully aft and even slightly towards the cockpit for the companionway.
For SHE, the model name is made up of Sanlorenzo Heritage, Zuccon International Project was responsible for the exterior design and star architect Piero Lissoni for the interior. The saloon was slightly raised, directly connected to the cockpit and seemingly casually fitted with a pop-up helm station. Floor-to-ceiling windows are intended to bring the outside world inside, and a sculptural spiral staircase leads to the slightly lower mezzanine level with dining area, which is directly connected to a spacious, fully equipped galley and the crew quarters.
The main deck extends over one level without barriers and offers a flexibly usable cockpit area. In the bow there is a relaxation area with a sun deck, supplemented by an upper sun deck. Particularly practical: the so-called Smart Island system enables flexible configurations both on the sun deck and in the cockpit, without permanently installed elements impairing the transparency of the surrounding glazing.
SHE's interiors are adorned with furniture and organic accents reminiscent of the elegance of mid-20th century Italian design. On the lower deck, there is an owner's cabin that spans the full width of the aft deck. This is followed by a VIP cabin and a guest cabin, all with en-suite bathrooms. The crew area in the foredeck comprises two cabins for three crew members.
The retro cruiser is to be Sanlorenzo's first yacht to carry the Hybrid IPS drive system from Volvo Penta. The combination of two diesel engines and 160 kilowatt electric motors enables various operating modes. With two IPS30 units (2 x 1,000 hp/735 kW), the shipyard's own designers are aiming for a cruising speed of up to 20 knots in hybrid mode, which corresponds to the maximum in normal mode.
Fully electric, it is expected to travel at nine knots - ideal for entering and leaving marinas or anchoring without emissions and with minimal noise levels. The system offers three functions:
The customised carbon dinghy, which is 3.95 metres long, will also be electric. The lightweight, quiet and efficient dinghy is intended to reflect the philosophy of the main yacht, which Sanlorenzo intends to build using a sandwich construction and laminated with bio-based resins. At half load, it is expected to have a displacement of 79 tonnes and a draught of 1.73 metres.
