Damen Yachting held a handover ceremony in Vlissingen for the Amels 80 “Netto II”. The second vessel in the 80-metre mini-series features a 517-square-metre owner’s deck, and the hull gleams in metallic dolphin blue.

After the “Netto II” had left the Dutch port of Vlissingen, Captain Fraser Gow set course for the Mediterranean. Early summer is a busy time for deliveries in the superyacht industry. The “Netto II” is already the second vessel to be delivered by the Amel's 80th, which Damen Yachting developed in collaboration with Espen Øino and unveiled digitally for the first time in 2022. Five of the 80-metre vessels have now been sold and six are under construction.

The second Amels 80 stands out

The second Amels 80 clearly stands out thanks to its hull colour, which Amels describes as metallic dolphin blue. The waterline is highlighted in platinum. And whilst her sister ship ‘Pangea’, completed a year ago, relied on a whole array of radomes, the new vessel appears to rely entirely on flat antennas.

According to the shipyard, the 80-metre-long vessel was built for an experienced owner who wishes to make active use of the yacht with his adventurous young family. The interior design was developed by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design. Kees de Keizer, who oversaw the project on behalf of the owner, describes the collaboration with the shipyard as seamless. The scope for customisation made it possible to bring the owner’s vision to life.

Layout and guest areas

The yacht can accommodate up to 14 guests in seven suites. The owner’s deck covers a total of 517 square metres, with six further cabins spread across the main deck. The crew consists of 20 people plus the captain. On the main deck, the lounge features floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows and opens onto the aft deck. The sun deck offers generous outdoor space with a large hot tub.

The beach club opens out onto the water on three sides and features a wellness area with a gym, hammam and sauna. Above this area, on the main deck, is a 6.5-metre-long pool with a glass floor, which allows natural light to flood into the beach club below and creates a visual connection between the decks. A special feature is a 1960s-style bar, reminiscent of a casino, which was designed according to the owner’s personal wishes.

Tender garage and helipad

At the bow there is a tender garage for various dinghies and water sports equipment. On the foredeck there is a touch-and-go landing pad for helicopters, which can be used for short take-offs and landings. According to the shipyard, the hull shape and propulsion system are designed to ensure quiet and comfortable operation, even on longer voyages.
