The 39.92 metre long aluminium superyacht marks a milestone for the Dutch shipyard from Waalwijk, as "Shine" is the largest vessel ever built by Van der Valk. During the test phase, all performance parameters and on-board systems are thoroughly checked.
The ship, developed as Project EVO, was first watered in March and has now been christened "Shine" at a festive ceremony. The owners and the design and engineering teams were also present. Following the successful completion of the test runs and the final outfitting, the handover is planned for the coming Mediterranean season.
The exterior design was drawn by Cristiano Gatto, based on an original concept by SFG Yacht Design and Fancy by Dada. During the development phase, the project grew from an initial 36-metre design to its current length of 40 metres.
The owners were closely involved in every phase. It was important to everyone involved to keep "Shine" easy to operate. At the same time, they wanted to offer the workmanship and equipment normally associated with much larger vessels.
The interior fittings combine almost 80 different materials. These include ebony and fine leather, which have been used together with specially designed pieces of furniture. "Shine" demonstrates Van der Valk's philosophy of building exclusively customised motor yachts. Over generations, the family-run company has built up a worldwide reputation for custom formats between 25 and 45 metres.
Each model is designed and built from the keel upwards according to the client's individual vision. For "Shine", the owners brought in their own exterior designers and worked closely with Van der Valk's craftsmen - from metal construction, carpentry and engineering to paintwork and interior finishing.
