With the A80new, Arcadia is presenting a superyacht that, at just under 24 metres, is small enough for special protected areas in the Mediterranean. And thus a yacht that combines sustainability, comfort and extra volume.

The Balearic Islands, the Cote d'Azur, Corsica and Capri are the favourite destinations of many owners. They are so popular that the seagrass, which is so important for the ecosystem, must be protected. Yachts with an overall length of more than 23.99 metres are no longer allowed to anchor in many areas close to the coast. One reason for Arcadia to launch the A80new with a length of exactly 23.98 metres: "We want to give owners the opportunity to enjoy these areas," says Sales Director Francesco Ansalone. The A80new is the latest project from the shipyard based on the Sorrento coast.

It's not just the length, the A80 is in many ways a further step towards green yachting. For example, the many solar panels demonstrate the brand's commitment to the most sustainable approach possible, the shipyard's "green philosophy", which encompasses air, sun and water. Environmental protection includes economical drives and generally energy-efficient systems. "When large windows are opened on both sides, the sea breeze cools the rooms down," says Franceso Ansalone. Air conditioning is often not necessary.

Five cabins for large families or friends

Admittedly, the 6.95 metre wide A80new does not really offer any new features, but what is unique for its length is its combination: a wide body superstructure for a gigantic volume (131 GT) and 250 square metres of living space, a raised wheelhouse, five guest cabins for larger families or groups of friends as well as ample accommodation for four crew members with a mess room and two double cabins plus bathroom and shower in the foredeck.

From here, it goes directly into the galley developed together with Valcucine. The concept offers plenty of privacy on both sides and a top level of service. The list of unique features is rounded off by a very spacious 80 square metre upper deck. "No competitor has currently launched a yacht like this," says Ansalone, summarising the concept.

The A80new is Arcadia's latest project

Arcadia Yachts first introduced the "holistic well-being" approach with the A96 was introduced. It invites you to lead an active but never hectic lifestyle and now continues with the new model.

In line with Arcadia's DNA, the A80new is equipped with solar panels (4.5 kWh) that ensure a 98 per cent increase in efficiency per square metre compared to the brand's early years. Above all, however, the 78-tonner with the two Volvo IPS engines offers outstanding driving performance and fuel consumption that is between 12 per cent (at 12 knots) and 27 per cent (at 15 knots) below the market average. And this at the slow speeds that best suit the shipyard's driving concept.

Arcadia equips all yachts with IPS - including the A80new

Arcadia already opted for the IPS system in 2015. The advantages of the A80new also include a larger volume in the guest area and improved comfort on board. As there is no shaft, vibrations are lower than with other drives. A stabilisation system with electric fins from CMC Marine is fitted as standard.

The A80new is the first RPH (Raised Pilot House) yacht from Arcadia Yachts, but retains all the brand's key design features - including the extra-wide bow. The master suite makes full use of this, which is otherwise not a matter of course on a yacht of this length. The other four suites are distributed symmetrically on the lower deck, two of which offer a double bed.

XL windows and mirrors make the salon look huge

As with all Arcadia yachts, the main deck is an open space that allows the interior and exterior to merge seamlessly and brings nature close enough to touch. This effect is emphasised by the large, wide-opening windows, which, as usual, are located at the stern and on the port side. This allows guests to enjoy the sea breeze and natural light throughout the day. Mirrors further widen the space, which is very inviting thanks to the warm colours and rounded corners.

As in the lobby, gigantic storage spaces, invisibly integrated into the furniture from the outside, swallow up large quantities of utensils.

Flexible furniture on the outside decks of the Arcadia A80new

The outer decks are open-air salons. The cockpit lounge is well protected from the sun, from here guests can reach the beach club via a few steps. An up & down platform allows easy access to the water, while mobile bulwarks significantly increase the usable area. The adjoining multifunctional garage for tenders and sports equipment is also comparatively large.

Another outdoor terrace is located on the aft upper deck, where the crew can adapt the free-standing furniture to any situation. The lounge under the protective hardtop is also flexible and can be transformed into a cinema couch if required. At the front is the open steering position. According to Ansalone, the bow terrace is "the most private area on board". Here, a mobile bimini provides protection from the sun, while the sunbathing area can be transformed into a lounge with a retractable table.

Three or four yachts per year

The first A80 is already under construction and will be launched this summer. It will make its debut at the upcoming yacht festival in Cannes. Numbers two and three will follow soon. "We don't build more than three to four yachts a year," notes Francesco Ansalone, "we want to maintain the boutique character of the shipyard."
