Focus on superyachts: Six berths for large formats such as "Aquijo" are being built in the harbour of Cape Town's Victoria and Alfred Waterfront.
More superyachts will be able to dock in Cape Town harbour in the future. The quay at the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront (V&A) is being expanded with an investment totalling millions.

Cape Town is responding to the increasing demand for berths. The Victoria and Alfred Waterfront (V&A) is investing 1.15 million US dollars in the expansion of a quay for six superyachts. The harbour district's operating company presented the plans to around 200 industry representatives at the first African Boating Conference. Due to the uncertain situation in the Red Sea, large formats are increasingly using the South African metropolis as a springboard to destinations in the Indian Ocean.

But Cape Town itself is also becoming increasingly popular. Luxury tour operator Ker & Downey Africa emphasises the experiences that yachting hotspots such as the Mediterranean and the Caribbean cannot offer: Access to a cosmopolitan city, dramatic coastal landscapes, penguins and whales, as well as trips to world-class wineries or safaris.
