With the 58Steel, Sanlorenzo is presenting a yacht that combines hybrid propulsion with extra volume. The exterior lines were supplied by Studio Zuccon International Project.

Sanlorenzo opens a new chapter in the company's history 15 years after its entry into steel shipbuilding. With the presentation of the 58Steel, the Italian shipyard introduces the successor to the successful 57Steel and relies on a newly developed platform. A look at the 74Steel.

Despite her compact dimensions, her spaciousness is comparable to that of a 64-metre yacht. The first 58Steel "Perla Lunar" was sold by Arcon Yachts, a broker based in Monaco with more than 25 years of experience.

Evolution in steel shipbuilding

When Sanlorenzo launched its first steel yacht on the market in 2010, it fuelled high expectations. Today, the brand's steel series is considered one of the most successful in the under 2,000 GT segment. The 58Steel with exterior lines by Zuccon International Project continues this legacy and sets a new benchmark in the 55 to 60 metre range. With a width of 10.8 metres and hybrid drive, it offers significantly more living space as well as efficient and silent driving.

"The 58Steel is a superyacht that redefines proportion, privacy and performance," explains Massimo Perotti, Chairman of Sanlorenzo. "It epitomises our ambition to remain the benchmark for yachts up to 2,000 GT. Our steel series now includes six superyachts."

Eight hours of clean hotel operation

The diesel-electric propulsion system on board the 58Steel is the first of its kind in Sanlorenzo's steel series. Compared to conventional propulsion systems, the hybrid solution reduces emissions by around ten per cent and enables up to two hours of silent cruising or up to eight hours of emission-free hotel operation at anchor.

The system is based on five generators, each with an output of 425 kW, and a battery pack with a capacity of 1 MWh. The modular design improves efficiency and flexibility, while azimuth pods with rotating propellers increase manoeuvrability and reduce vibrations and noise.

More compact engines create more living space

The engine room was redesigned and now only occupies one deck. This has created more than 40 square metres of additional living space, allowing the beach club to expand, among other things.

"This yacht stands for evolution, not repetition. With its propulsion system at its core, the 58Steel offers more freedom, more space, more light and greater efficiency," says Tommaso Vincenzi, CEO of Sanlorenzo.

Clear style from Zuccon International Project

The outer lines of the 58Steel are timeless, yet their sculptural forms are typical of the Roman studio Zuccon International Project.

Compared to its predecessor, the design team has extended the bridge deck by one metre and redesigned it. At the stern, the beach club opens up on three sides and creates a simply designed refuge with a bar, hammam, gym and beauty parlour. Daylight enters from above via the glass pool floor.

Sophisticated room concept

Although the layout of the 58Steel is strongly influenced by the 57Steel, it develops this further. The room layout is of course variable, with the number one offering two VIP cabins across the entire width on the lower deck and a Supreme VIP on the main deck.

The owner's flat is located on the upper deck. The panoramic suite includes an office, dressing area and a lounge that can be transformed into a cinema - the ideal configuration for charter purposes. There is also a private pool deck.

The interior is the work of the Sanlorenzo design department. Warm colours meet dark woods, Calacatta Borghini marble, plenty of mother-of-pearl and champagne-coloured accents.
