Sports yachts: Football legend Neymar buys the ‘Enejota’ explorer yacht following his World Cup exit

Neymar brought his career with the Brazilian national team to a close with a dramatic exit. Brazil were knocked out by Norway in the round of 16 at the World Cup. Both his first and last international matches took place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey: the first in 2010 in a friendly against the USA, and now, 16 years later, in the World Cup exit.

Neymar opts for an Explorer yacht

Shortly after retiring from professional football, the player invested 120 million Brazilian real in a yacht that had previously been used as a commercial cargo ship. The Brazilian shipyard Inace Superyachts then converted the 46-metre vessel into an explorer yacht. Spanning an area of 800 square metres, the yacht features six suites. The striking high-bow design ensures a smoother ride over longer distances. A helipad on the upper deck allows for arrival and departure by helicopter.

What does ‘Enejota’ stand for?

According to various media reports, the yacht is said to have cost around 20.6 million euros. Four Caterpillar engines, each producing 1,450 PS, power the Explorer yacht. The hydrojet propulsion system ensures stability whilst underway. The name ‘Enejota’ is derived from the Portuguese pronunciation of the initials ‘NJ’, which stand for Neymar Jr.
