German Naval Yards, Swisship Yacht Projects and Pascoli International are jointly presenting the "Koa" superyacht concept. The 93 metre long yacht with an interior volume of almost 3,500 gross tonnes is aimed at the next generation of superyacht owners and combines a modern exterior design with hybrid propulsion technology.

The 93 metre long yacht concept builds on German Naval Yards' (GNY) experience with technically demanding projects. The shipyard has impressive references, including the 142.8 metre long "Sailing Yacht A" and the 114.1 metre project currently under construction ELFthat the shipyard in October of this year. With "Koa", GNY continues on its path of building innovative and technically advanced yachts. The search for an owner for "Koa" has only just begun.

"Koa" combines modern design with hybrid technology

The "Koa" design surprises with a clear, architectural profile characterised by floor-to-ceiling window fronts and glass railings. The contemporary design is complemented by a navy blue hull, white superstructure and teak decks. The concept is aimed at the next generation of owners who are not only looking for exceptional design, but also a direct connection to the sea.

Impressive room concepts and well thought-out layout

An outstanding feature of the yacht is located on the main deck aft. A glass-bottomed swimming pool is installed here, flooding the beach club below with natural light. The beach club itself has two fold-down terraces and a bathing platform at the stern. This area houses a water sports and diving centre as well as a gym, with spacious crew areas for up to 32 people in front. The lounge of the aft cockpit on the main deck is connected to the pool deck and the lounge on the upper deck by a two-storey atrium with a free-floating staircase, creating an open and airy feeling of space.

Flexible guest accommodation and spacious owner's areas

There are six guest cabins in the forward area of the main deck, four of which can be converted into two large VIP suites with adjoining lounge areas. This flexible layout allows the yacht to be adapted to different guest configurations. Also on the main deck is a full-width garage that can accommodate two 10-metre tenders, a 6.2-metre crew boat, an MOB tender and other water toys. The upper deck houses a spa area with hairdressing and massage rooms, a relaxation lounge with a view of the jacuzzi and sun loungers in the bow area.

Multifunctional bridge deck design

The bridge deck has a multifunctional design. The bridge, the captain's cabin and his office are located in the forward area. The aft section houses the private owner's suite with a terrace and panoramic views.

Advanced hybrid drive system

The propulsion system is based on a proven hybrid platform with two MAN engines and a PTO/PTI system. This configuration should enable a quiet journey at around eleven knots and a top speed of approximately 18 knots. Peak loads can be absorbed by a 3-megawatt battery pack from Corvus, which also enables whisper-quiet manoeuvring and anchoring without diesel exhaust fumes. Rolling motions are reduced by two retractable fin stabilisers and a set of retractable maglifts from Quantum.

Future-orientated shipyard development

"This project reflects the development of our shipyard," says Rino Brugge, Managing Director of German Naval Yards. Following the technical successes of "Sailing Yacht A" and the current construction of the 114-metre ELF project, the company is excited to present a concept that shows what GNY can do for the next generation of superyacht owners. The combination of the visionary design of Swisship Yacht Projects and Pascoli International demonstrates the shipyard's capabilities and ambitions. Project ELF is currently the only project under construction at GNY, with delivery to the US owner scheduled for 2028.
