At the ceremony for the TX450, the owner, his family and crew, Tankoa’s management and all partner companies were in high spirits. Following the traditional blessing and christening by the godmother, there was a lively celebration. The owner, from the Middle East, has previously owned several yachts; his aim was a vessel under 500 gross registered tonnes with the volume, living comfort and layout of a significantly larger ship.
The project was developed jointly by the owner and Cassetta Yacht Designers, with the studio responsible for the interior and exterior design. The naval architecture was provided by NAMES, whilst the engineering was carried out by inNave in collaboration with Tankoa’s design department. Although the TX450 is based on the T450 model, it is a new, 100 per cent bespoke yacht. Only the design team remains the same.
The interior designed by Cassetta Yacht Designers is tailored to the yacht’s intended use, and the layout differs significantly from that of its predecessor. The TX450, for instance, has an additional deck and is wider. The main deck houses VIP cabins as well as the owner’s suite; in total, the yacht can accommodate up to ten guests in five cabins. The bridge deck features an enclosed veranda.
On board the TX450, conventional engines work in conjunction with electric drives and batteries. At half load, the yacht reaches a top speed of 15 knots, whilst its cruising speed is 14 knots. In pure electric mode, the TX450 is emission-free; whilst at anchor overnight, the on-board facilities run exclusively on battery power. It is also possible to cruise for several hours in fully electric mode. Safe travels!
