Tyde presents the largest luxury hydrofoil for private customers. In collaboration with BMW, the latest expertise and technology from the automotive industry has once again been incorporated. The boat will be delivered from autumn 2024 and we show the first pictures

With "The Icon"the first battery-powered motorboat of its kind, Tyde has already set a milestone in collaboration with BMW and the innovation centre Designworks. With an impressive range and wings adapted from sailing that significantly reduce energy consumption, the boat has set new standards and was honoured with the "Wallpaper Smart Space Award" and the "Boat Builder Award" for its innovative concept.

Tyde and BMW are committed to sustainable mobility on the water

Now comes the continuation of the cooperation, which contributes to sustainable mobility on the water. As a climate-friendly open luxury yacht, the new project represents a class of innovative watercraft that is characterised by its user experience, state-of-the-art vehicle technology, radical innovations and progressive design. As a pioneer in this new category, the open yacht concept is specifically designed to meet the needs of private users.

With "The Icon", we have shown how elegant and luxurious sustainable mobility on the water can be. The continuation of our cooperation with BMW is now fuelling our entry into another segment. The new model brings pioneering mobility to the day yacht segment," says Christoph Ballin, co-founder and Managing Director of Tyde.

By continuing its collaboration with Tyde, BMW is emphasising its commitment to sustainable drive technologies and individual mobility off the road. "Our aim is to give additional impetus to the BMW-typical joy of sustainable mobility with pioneering design and intelligent technology transfer from the automotive sector," says Stefan Ponikva, Vice President Brand Communication and Brand Experience BMW.

While Tyde is responsible for the conception, development, production and marketing of the project, BMW is contributing components and expertise from the field of electromobility. The design once again comes from the creative forge of the BMW Group subsidiary Designworks.

About the new project: Tyde The Open

With a length of just under 15 metres and a width of 4.50 metres, it offers all the comforts of a luxury day yacht without causing emissions during operation, according to the shipyard. The foiling technology, in which the vehicle rests on hydrofoils below the water surface while the hull floats above the water surface, is said to not only save almost 80 per cent energy, but also allow passengers to float calmly over the water - even in swell. It is powered by two 100 kW electric motors that draw their power from around 400 kWh of batteries. A top speed of around 30 knots is specified. According to Tyde, at a cruising speed of 25 knots, the 400 kWh should be sufficient for a journey of around 50 nm.

Apart from the wings, the interior of the boat is as bright as it is futuristic. The prismatically designed cabin has a spacious sleeping area, a large TV screen, a work desk, plenty of storage space and a fully equipped bathroom.

By collaborating on this pioneering project, Tyde and BMW are combining a new perspective on electrification, sustainability and innovation for the maritime industry. Following the announcement at the 28th World Climate Conference in Dubai in December this year, the new day yacht is now available to order. The first yachts will be delivered in autumn 2024.
