Earvin "Magic" Johnson remains true to his reputation as the master of luxury summer holidays. This year, the basketball superstar is once again setting sail to explore the most beautiful coasts of Europe - but with a remarkable upgrade. Instead of his long-standing yacht "Phoenix 2", Johnson is now chartering the 95-metre "Whisper", which was delivered by Lürssen in 2014 as the "Kismet". The pleasure costs Johnson around 1.4 million dollars per week.
The journey began in Greece, where the 65-year-old and his wife Cookie organised an all-white party. Just a few days earlier, Johnson had delighted his followers with impressions of a no less glamorous toga party. The route continued from the Greek islands to Monaco. Against this backdrop, he recently recorded a video of a work-out on board the "Whisper", which he posted on Instagram.

The "Phoenix 2", Johnson's longstanding floating summer residence, changed hands in September 2024. A Turkish businessman acquired the Lürssen for around 140 million dollars. She is now available for charter for 1.36 million dollars per week - polished, upgraded, but no longer the home of the basketball legend. The new yacht "Whisper" surpasses its predecessor: at 95 metres in length, it offers even more space on board. Formerly known as "Kismet", it belonged to the owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars, Shahid Khan, and was chartered by Jay-Z and Beyoncé in 2018. Eric Schmidt, former CEO of Google, is currently the owner of the Whisper, which he acquired in 2023 for almost 200 million dollars.
The "Whisper" comes with a twelve-metre-long mosaic pool with Jacuzzi and a fully equipped cinema. The spacious decks offer plenty of room for the 2.06 metre tall ex-NBA star's themed parties. The centrepiece of the superyacht is a four-storey atrium with a central glass lift. The owner's suite, decorated in gold and black and adorned with marble work, has separate bathrooms, spacious wardrobes, private helipad access and an office area. Six further cabins, including two VIP suites, offer space for additional guests.
