With Project Y729 by Oceanco, List GC offers a rare glimpse into a secret world. In a video series, the interior designers show, step by step, how the interior of a superyacht takes shape.

List General Contractor (List GC) offers a glimpse into a process that is normally characterised by the utmost discretion. The Austrian interior designers guide the journey from the initial vision to the finished interior. In doing so, they reveal what will later be barely noticeable on board: precision, craftsmanship and the interplay of numerous trades, partners and specialists. Together with Oceanco, Arrow, Zuretti Design and the marble supplier Hotavlje, List GC showcases selected stages of this creation story.

Step by step to the finished interior

Entitled “CRAFTED. The Journey Revealed.”, the documentary follows Project Y729 over a period of months and across a wide variety of trades: from the first joint steps towards realising a vision, through mock-ups, engineering, material development and work preparation, to production, quality control, assembly and the final stages before handover.

The films reveal the complexity behind an interior that, ultimately, is intended to appear harmonious, natural and effortless. Drawings are translated into practical solutions; materials are selected, developed and perfected. Technology is concealed behind flawless surfaces. Step by step, individual decisions come together to form a coherent whole.

“We want to show how we work and how we collaborate with the designers down to the very last detail to develop, manufacture and finally install an exceptional interior on board,” says Christian Bolinger, Director of List GC.

Uske was born just outside Volkswagen in 1970 and tested various small boats with sails through her boyfriend (now husband 😊) on a quarry pond. Her studies in Kiel took her to the Baltic Sea with boats of all kinds and eventually to a regatta from Hong Kong to Mauritius via the Academic Sailing Club. Her teacher training ended at the Burda School of Journalism in Munich instead of in the classroom and finally at Boote Exclusiv. After a long break and various stories about house building, she returned to Delius Klasing and has been filling the magazine with long stories about large ships ever since. A family-owned H-boat was quickly sold again as the mother realized that sailing with two small children was neither relaxing nor fun.
