The Baden-Württemberg Motorboat Sports Association had chosen Heidelberg as the venue for the conference from 2 to 4 May.
In their welcoming addresses, both the head of the Waterways and Shipping Office, Walter Braun, and the head of the Heidelberg Waterway Police, Tobias Banzhaf, praised the good cooperation with the DMYV.
With regard to the plans of the Federal Ministry of Transport, to replace the official recreational craft licence with a so-called "association licence"In the past, fears were expressed that the current high quality of training and the independent examination system would be reduced by this reform and that this could have a detrimental effect on safety on the waterways. Fears that are shared by the DMYV.
Frank Dettmering was brief in his report on the past two years since the last association conference in Wittenberg: According to Dettmering, one of the biggest challenges is the modernisation and digitalisation of the DMYV's administration and information channels. However, he was confident that the DMYV is on the right track here and called on the members to play a constructive role in shaping the organisation. Those present were then able to review the highlights of the last two years in a film.
Frank Dettmering, who took over the office four years ago from long-serving former President and current Honorary President Winfried Röcker, stood again for election to the office of President. In addition, the experienced banker and financial expert Eckhard Ding (67) was put forward by the Executive Committee as a candidate for the position of 2nd Vice President and Treasurer.
In the subsequent election, the Association Congress confirmed Frank Dettmering as DMYV President for a further term of office with a large majority. Eckhard Ding was also elected almost unanimously as Treasurer and 2nd Vice President with only three abstentions. Sven Greif, Chairman of the SBV, and Dipl. Ing. Helmut von Veen, Head of the Spatial Planning/Environment/Infrastructure Department, were confirmed in office by a large majority at the meeting as other key positions up for election as members of the Executive Committee.
The election of the auditors was also on the agenda. Roland Steckermaier from Bavaria will take on this task and will be supported by Silveria Grotkopf-Wallner from the Hamburg Motor Yacht Association as deputy. In addition, Michael Brassat from Bremen was nominated and elected to replace a resigning member for the next two years.
The election of the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Association Council, which advises the Presidium and represents the interests of the federal states, was also on the agenda of the constituent meeting following the Association Congress. The Chairman of the Association Council is also a member of the DMYV Executive Committee.
Both Michael Martini, President of the Baden-Württemberg regional association as Chairman of the Association Council, and Christel Lenarz, President of the Hessian regional association and Deputy Chairwoman, stood for re-election. Both were unanimously confirmed in office.
Uwe Thöben, who had to resign as treasurer for health reasons, was awarded the DMYV's Gold Badge of Honour for his many years of work for motorised water sports and was bid farewell with great applause by the meeting of the association.
Nadine Kössler, Chairwoman of the Federal Youth Council and Head of the Youth & Sport Department, was also delighted to receive the DMYV's Gold Badge of Honour for her commitment to motorised water sports, as was Helmut von Veen, who has been tirelessly fighting for the interests of water sports enthusiasts for many years as Head of the Regional Planning/Environment/Infrastructure Department and as a member of the Executive Committee.
The first Vice President and President of the Rhineland-Palatinate regional association, Gisbert König, and the Chairman of the Association Council and President of the Baden-Württemberg regional association, Michael Martini, were awarded the DMYV's golden badge of honour with wreath, in recognition of their decades of voluntary work for motorised water sports.
With the confirmation and election of key positions on the DMYV Executive Committee, the delegates at the Association Congress showed that the course towards modernisation and broad positioning of the DMYV, which was already taken under Frank Dettmering's predecessor Winfried Röcker, is being consistently continued.
