Jake is aimed at boaters who want to avoid having several separate boat hooks. Instead of carrying and stowing hooks, deck brushes, line threaders and line grabs separately, the Jake allows you to change the attachments as required. This saves space in the locker and reduces the number of items on deck. The magnetic holder keeps the boat hook ready to hand at all times.
The classic hook attachment is used for holding onto the jetty and grabbing things out of the water. The mooring line grab is specially designed for picking up mooring lines - its shape is intended to enable a secure grip at the stern. This means that the line, which is usually very overgrown, can be guided to the bow and secured without mussels cutting into your fingers.
The deck washing brush transforms the Jake into an extended scrubber for the deck and hull sides. The line threader helps to pull lines through cleats or rings on the jetty. This is particularly helpful when mooring to a buoy or a low floating dock. This is because the mooring line can be pulled through without having to leave the running deck. According to the manufacturer, all four attachments can be changed without tools.
The handle can be telescoped twice and therefore offers a long reach. This is particularly helpful for boats with a high freeboard or when picking up mooring lines. The exact dimensions when retracted and extended are not yet available.
The magnetic holder can be attached to the superstructure. The boat hook adheres magnetically to the holder and can be removed with a handle. This should work faster than conventional clamp mounts and keep the boat hook always ready to hand. The magnetic lock also prevents the telescopic handle from rattling in the holder.
Jake will be available from mid-December 2024. Easysea has not yet published pricing details. Interested parties can pre-order on the manufacturer's website.
