Henri-Lloyd is expanding its range with the Freemantle shorts. The trousers are aimed at sailors and water sports enthusiasts who are looking for shorts for use on board and on land. The manufacturer offers the model in four colours: Navy, Ice, Titanium and Black. The look is based on the classic chino cut.
The fabric is made from 92 per cent recycled polyester and 8 per cent spandex. The fabric has a double weave, which the manufacturer claims increases durability. The construction allows freedom of movement in four directions, i.e. in both length and width. Henri-Lloyd treats the fabric with a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating, which does not use PFC. PFC stands for perfluorinated and polyfluorinated chemicals, which are considered harmful to the environment. The coating is designed to repel spray and light rain.
According to the manufacturer, the fabric dries quickly and allows moisture to escape. The shorts are designed to withstand abrasion and tears, which is important when working on deck. The edges of cleats, winches and lines put a lot of strain on clothing. The workmanship is designed to withstand these stresses.
The Freemantle shorts have slanted pockets at the front, as is typical for chino trousers. There is a pocket with a YKK AquaGuard zip on the back. This zip seals the pocket against splashing water. The waistband is laminated and closes with a press stud. Henri-Lloyd offers the shorts in waist sizes from 30 to 40 inches. This corresponds to a waist circumference of around 76 to 102 centimetres. The price is 100 euros.
The shorts are in the online shop at www.henrilloyd.com and in bricks-and-mortar stores. Henri-Lloyd operates a customer loyalty programme called the Rewards Programme. According to the company, members receive discounts, early access to new collections and invitations to events. Participation is possible at www.henrilloyd.com/rewards.
