Table frame: a classic in a new guise

The familiar table frames are now also available in blackPhoto: HerstellerThe familiar table frames are now also available in black

The mobile, customisable table frame from the manufacturer Lagun has been on the market for years and can be installed in almost any cockpit. With a second bracket, the table can also be used in the saloon. The tried and tested aluminium construction is now also available in a black anodised version. The function and features are unchanged. The dark look is elegant, but at around 70 euros it is significantly more expensive than the silver-coloured version. A special feature of the Lagun frame: as it does not have a central table leg and can be mounted on a vertical surface at the side, the footwell is not restricted, which is particularly important on smaller boats. The table can also be easily adjusted in height, swivelled to the side and fixed in any position.

The robust canister from Oscolati is equipped with a special closure valve. This allows the canister to be turned upside down without the liquid leaking out. Refuelling only takes place when the filler neck is inserted and the valve is activated by applying slight pressure. When not in use, the filler neck can be stored upside down inside the canister. The canister is available in 5, 10 and 20 litre sizes.

Motor: BlueSpin

BlueNav, an electric motor company, has developed the BlueSpin. In-house engineers used CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) to discover that the bulges on the fins of whales and the stripes on their belly reduce water resistance and increase fluid flow efficiency. This system was then applied to the blades on the engine. The motors are designed to convert boats from 8 to 15 metres in length, which are powered by combustion engines, into hybrid electric boats. This motor can be installed in new boats or used as a retrofit option for existing boats. It should be available this year.

Editor Test & Technology

Ole Puls was born in Schleswig in 1999. He quickly swapped the football pitch for the Schlei and grew up sailing a wide variety of dinghies and tall ships. From his grandfather's self-built wooden opti and a Europe to a 49er and an X362 Sport, there was a lot to choose from. After leaving school, Puls decided to train as a boat builder at the high-tech shipyard Knierim Yachtbau in Kiel in 2016. He successfully completed his training in 2020 and stayed at the shipyard as a bachelor. In 2022, he decided not only to build boats, but also to test them. Since then, he has been working for Delius Klasing Verlag in the Test & Technology section of BOOTE magazine. The training he received and the eye for detail and quality of workmanship he acquired help him immensely today. Even though he is a regatta sailor with heart and soul, he feels right at home on motorboats and enjoys separating his professional and private lives and yet combining them. Because we all know one thing: there is simply no better place to be than on the water.
