Running water without the need for a complex fixed installation, and a kettle that takes up hardly any space in the cabin: two products that solve typical space and comfort issues on small boats.

Space-saving kettle

It takes up less space in the cupboard and makes less noise than conventional kettles, which are made entirely of metal. Foldable kettles with a heating element attached to a heat-resistant silicone bellows are a real asset to the galley. There are various models available on the market in different sizes at quite reasonable prices. The kettle pictured, from the manufacturer Eagle (Type 1279) has a capacity of 0.6 litres, features a stainless steel heating element (230 volts) and folds flat to a height of 9.5 centimetres. What’s more, the fold-away handle ensures it takes up even less space. It has a power rating of 750 watts. Price: 21.19 euros. Further information: amazon.de

Tap with built-in pump

Running water without a fixed installation: the portable tap called Dometic Go Hydration draws water directly from the canister, eliminating the need for the complex installation of a pressurised water system. This can be a useful alternative, particularly for small boats. The electric pump built into the tap simply draws in the water via a hose. A water-saving automatic shut-off function makes it easy to use. Thanks to its magnetic base, the tap – which weighs just 360 grams – can be attached in a variety of ways. The built-in rechargeable battery is designed to last for 150 litres of water. Price: 89 euros. Further information: FRITZ-BERGER.DE
