Yachtcare Gelcoat Crack Repair: Minor damage to the gelcoat quickly repaired

Even if hairline cracks or imperfections in the gelcoat are only visual defects, repairing them with conventional means is just as time-consuming as with more extensive damage. With the new Gelcoat Crack Repair from Yachtcare, such minor defects can now be repaired quickly. We have tested the product!
Simple application saves time
The viscous nitrocellulose lacquer comes in a handy brush bottle with a capacity of nine millilitres. Application is straightforward: clean the damaged area, apply the paint and leave to dry. Unlike polyester-based systems, there is no need for mixing. The paint runs well and cures tack-free without the need for oxygen. In our test on a locker lid, two thin coats of Gelcoat Crack Repair were required to cover a repair carried out with epoxy filler. The application took a total of one hour. The paint reliably filled small pores. The end result was visually almost indistinguishable from the surrounding area.
Observe restrictions
Gelcoat crack repair is primarily suitable for cosmetic repairs. Deeper damage or structural problems still require a classic repair. The choice of colours was initially limited to pure white (RAL 9010) and cream white (RAL 9001). Gelcoat crack repair is now also available in pearl white (RAL 1013) and steel blue (RAL 5011). The white shades can be mixed to achieve the colour tone of yellowed surfaces.
At a price of around 11 euros for nine millilitres, Gelcoat Crack Repair is no bargain. However, for occasional repairs of minor damage, the ease of use justifies the extra cost compared to cheaper but more expensive alternatives. Overall, Yachtcare's Crack Repair is a practical solution for repairing minor blemishes quickly and easily.
