Boating safety is one of the many topics covered in BOOTE issue 10/25, which offers valuable tips on emergency calls, towing techniques and how to carry them out correctly in order to deal with unforeseen situations safely. In addition to exciting boat tests, a new trend is also presented: fishing by boat.

Safety should always come first when boating. For this reason, you will find two topics in this issue of BOOTE that are designed to ensure greater safety: "Emergency calls" and "Towing". Did you know, for example, that it can also make sense to call the emergency number 112 on board?

The reason: the mobile phone automatically transmits your position to the emergency services, even if the location services are not activated, and modern smartphones even use satellite technology for this purpose if the mobile phone network is not strong enough. You can find this and other valuable tips on the subject of emergency calls in issue 10/25.

But correct towing also needs to be learnt and, above all, trained. If you make mistakes here, you risk damaging both boats. It often makes more sense to tow the stranded vessel alongside than to drag it behind you on a line. Our practical guide "Emergency service" shows when which towing technique makes sense and what else needs to be considered when providing assistance of this kind.

Fishing by boat

A completely different and new topic for BOOTE: if you believe industry experts, more and more owners are using their boats for fishing. Rod holders, fish boxes and the like can now often be found in the options lists of major manufacturers such as Jeanneau, Beneteau, Quicksilver and Galia, to name but a few. Reason enough for us to take a look at the scene and take a closer look at the topic of "boat fishing".
