The line should be thrown directly at the person in the water. The line runs out of the bag by itself.
With the Seculine, Secumar has developed a lifeline for emergencies on board. The compact bag contains twenty metres of buoyant line that can be thrown precisely. The bright orange design is designed to be clearly visible in the water.

Lanyards are part of the safety equipment on board and make it possible to quickly establish a connection to a person in the water. Secumar's Seculine has been developed as a mobile solution that can be kept easily accessible in the cockpit, on the companionway or on the railing. In contrast to permanently installed MOB systems, it can be used from any position on board. The compact throw bag is easy to handle even for less experienced crew members.

Floatable and visible

The line is made of buoyant polypropylene and stays on the surface of the water. The bright orange colour increases visibility both for the person in the water and for the crew on board. The eight millimetre diameter ensures a secure grip even with cold or wet hands. Thinner lines would be more difficult to grip, thicker ones would increase the pack size and reduce the casting distance.

The breaking load is 1,300 decanewtons - this corresponds to a tensile force of around 1,300 kilograms. Even with knots in the end loop, the breaking load is still 700 decanewtons. This is sufficient for all standard recovery manoeuvres. The prefabricated loop at the end can be gripped directly by the person in the water or used to secure themselves.

Easy handling in an emergency

The throwing bag is equipped with sturdy handles that provide a secure grip when throwing. The system works according to a tried and tested principle: the end with the loop is attached to the boat - to a cleat, railing or securing point. The bag is then thrown to the person in the water. The line unwinds automatically from the bag without getting tangled.

According to the manufacturer, the Seculine is intuitive to use. The orange design of the bag makes it easy to find, even in hectic situations. It can be attached to the railing using Velcro loops. Secumar recommends practising throwing it regularly so that you have the right technique to hand in an emergency. You should also practise repacking the line correctly so that it does not get tangled when you use it again.

Compact emergency equipment

The throw bag can be stowed away to save space and weighs just a few hundred grams. This means that the Seculine can be kept in several places on board - for example, one in the cockpit and one on the foredeck. For crews with changing crews or charter yachts, the simple handling offers an advantage over more complex MOB systems.

The Seculine is available immediately and can be purchased from specialist dealers. The system is aimed at motorboat drivers who want to have an uncomplicated lifeline on board for emergencies.
