Wakeboarding is a popular water sport, especially in the USA and increasingly in Europe. With a little practice and physical fitness, you can progress quickly and learn tricks

Wakeboarding is probably one of the best-known sports behind the boat. There are real championships and even world championships for a reason. This sport is particularly popular in the USA, but is also becoming increasingly popular in Europe.

You need a wakeboard with appropriate foot bindings to ride it. These are available on the internet or in local surf shops. You will receive detailed advice there and get the board you need for your individual abilities and personal requirements. The tow boat should have enough power to pull you out of the water quickly. Professional boats with extra water tanks to increase the stern wave are not absolutely necessary. Once you have everything you need, the fun can begin.

After a little practice, you quickly get a feel for the board and riding behind it is soon no longer that difficult - but it still takes practice. Once you've got the hang of it, you can increase the fun with tricks. Anyone who has enough body tension and strength in their arms and legs can actually ride. The water should be as calm and wave-free as possible, otherwise it will be uncomfortable to ride.

Editor Test & Technology

Ole Puls was born in Schleswig in 1999. He quickly swapped the football pitch for the Schlei and grew up sailing a wide variety of dinghies and tall ships. From his grandfather's self-built wooden opti and a Europe to a 49er and an X362 Sport, there was a lot to choose from. After leaving school, Puls decided to train as a boat builder at the high-tech shipyard Knierim Yachtbau in Kiel in 2016. He successfully completed his training in 2020 and stayed at the shipyard as a bachelor. In 2022, he decided not only to build boats, but also to test them. Since then, he has been working for Delius Klasing Verlag in the Test & Technology section of BOOTE magazine. The training he received and the eye for detail and quality of workmanship he acquired help him immensely today. Even though he is a regatta sailor with heart and soul, he feels right at home on motorboats and enjoys separating his professional and private lives and yet combining them. Because we all know one thing: there is simply no better place to be than on the water.
