Axopar and Flite present an inflatable eFoil board that has been specially designed for use on boats. The board combines Flite's hydrofoil technology with practical customisations for boat owners. Pre-orders will start in February 2026, with delivery beginning in May 2026.

The Flite AIR x Axopar is an electric hydrofoil board with an inflatable design. A hydrofoil is lifted out of the water by an underwater wing and glides over the surface with virtually no resistance. The collaboration between Finnish boat builder Axopar and Australian eFoil manufacturer Flite aims to make this technology more accessible to boat owners. The board is based on the existing Flite AIR, but has been customised in terms of size and features. With dimensions of 1655 x 665 x 100 millimetres, it can be stowed more compactly than conventional carbon boards. The volume is 92 litres.

Construction for boat operation

The inflatable construction consists of a reinforced outer skin made of texturised PVC material. According to the manufacturer, this construction is more resistant to impacts on boat hulls or sand than rigid carbon fibre boards. The board can also be placed upside down on stony beaches or concrete piers. Three integrated handles on the front and sides make it easier to get on and off the boat. An attachment point allows the board to be lashed alongside the boat during breaks. The soft structure provides buoyancy and stability, which should make it easier for beginners to get started. The board can carry riders weighing up to 120 kilograms.

Practical details for longer tours

An integrated bungee system is used to attach equipment while travelling. There is also a front strap that can be used to transport small items such as shoes, phone or provisions. A waterproof rucksack and a 10-litre drybag are optionally available to transport equipment safely. At low speeds, the board can be used like a stand-up paddle board. The buoyant platform allows you to rest on it during longer trips. A special transport and storage bag for boats is available as an optional accessory.

Drive systems and batteries

The board is compatible with all Flite wings, masts and propulsion systems. Three propulsion options are available: The fully shrouded Flite Jet 2 offers maximum protection, especially for beginners and younger riders. A propeller with protective grille balances performance and safety. The open propeller is aimed at experienced riders who want greater responsiveness. The recommended configuration includes the Jet 2, the Cruiser Jet 1500 Wing with Cruiser 300 stabiliser and the Flitecell Sport battery. This battery can be fast-charged on Axopar 38 and Axopar 45 models with power bank option. The Flitecell Nano should be charged in 50 minutes and the Flitecell Sport in 1 hour and 15 minutes. The Flite app records riding data such as speed, distance and battery consumption.

Design and colour scheme

The deck pad features a laser-cut pattern that represents the seabed structure of the Finnish archipelago of Kasnäs. This texture is intended to improve grip and comfort. The colour scheme is based on Axopar's design language and uses tones that are also used on the new Axopar 38. The board weighs significantly less than comparable carbon constructions without the drive system and battery, which makes it easier to transport and store.

Extended application possibilities

While eFoil riders normally set off from beaches or harbours and are therefore restricted to a limited coastal area, taking them on a boat opens up new areas. Remote bays, narrow passages and distant stretches of coastline become accessible. The boat serves as a mobile base from which various spots can be approached. Jan-Erik Viitala, founding partner of Axopar, uses the Flite AIR Board on his own trips and emphasises that the combination of boat and eFoil enables explorations that would not be possible with just one of the two means of transport.

Availability and prices

The board can be purchased in three ways: As an option when purchasing a new Axopar boat, through selected Axopar dealers who are authorised Flite dealers, or directly through the Flite website. The board alone costs 695 euros excluding VAT in Europe. The complete configuration with drive, wings, battery and controller starts at 7500 euros. The complete package including transport bag, rucksack and drybag starts at 7900 euros. Batteries are shipped separately due to lithium transport regulations. A prototype was shown at Boot Düsseldorf 2026, pre-orders are possible from February 2026, delivery will start at the beginning of May 2026.

Ole Puls was born in Schleswig in 1999. He quickly swapped the football pitch for the Schlei and grew up sailing a wide variety of dinghies and tall ships. From his grandfather's self-built wooden opti and a Europe to a 49er and an X362 Sport, there was a lot to choose from. After leaving school, Puls decided to train as a boat builder at the high-tech shipyard Knierim Yachtbau in Kiel in 2016. He successfully completed his training in 2020 and stayed at the shipyard as a bachelor. In 2022, he decided not only to build boats, but also to test them. Since then, he has been working for Delius Klasing Verlag in the Test & Technology section of BOOTE magazine. The training he received and the eye for detail and quality of workmanship he acquired help him immensely today. Even though he is a regatta sailor with heart and soul, he feels right at home on motorboats and enjoys separating his professional and private lives and yet combining them. Because we all know one thing: there is simply no better place to be than on the water.
