Off the ground: The prices of Sifly's e-foilers are not.
Sifly is a new player on the e-foil market. Founder Alexander Bachev started out internationally as a kiter in foil races for Bulgaria, is increasingly focussing on production and assembly in Europe and pursues an attractive pricing policy.

The beginner model Rider comes with a softboard as a base and starts at 4,999 euros. There is also an inflatable version as well as GRP and carbon versions. The premium model Stellar X starts at 9,190 euros.

How to control the E-Foil

Sifly uses carbon wings and electric motors throttled to five kilowatts. The drive unit is part of the aluminium fuselage, the propeller can be extended with a cage or replaced with a waterjet unit with impeller. The remote control has a finger throttle, the self-developed battery management system monitors batteries (1.6 kWh or 2.3 kWh) with cells from German car manufacturers.

Why the use on yachts is interesting

The new quick-mount mast for a tool-free connection to the board and fuselage is particularly interesting for use on yachts. Clicking and locking tempts you to disassemble, which avoids searching for screws and playing Tetris in the toy garage.

Uske was born just outside Volkswagen in 1970 and tested various small boats with sails through her boyfriend (now husband 😊) on a quarry pond. Her studies in Kiel took her to the Baltic Sea with boats of all kinds and eventually to a regatta from Hong Kong to Mauritius via the Academic Sailing Club. Her teacher training ended at the Burda School of Journalism in Munich instead of in the classroom and finally at Boote Exclusiv. After a long break and various stories about house building, she returned to Delius Klasing and has been filling the magazine with long stories about large ships ever since. A family-owned H-boat was quickly sold again as the mother realized that sailing with two small children was neither relaxing nor fun.
