Trade fair complements established boat show

The Helsinki International Boat Show, often referred to as Vene Båt, is regarded as Europe’s second-largest indoor boat show. In 2026, the event attracted just under 55,000 visitors, returning to the levels seen in 2024. According to Jussi Kivikari, Managing Director of the Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre, it is important for maritime professionals to see vessels and equipment first-hand and to speak to manufacturers. Holding both trade fairs at the same time creates added value for the industry.

Programme for public authorities and professionals

On the trade visitors’ day, the programme will cover changes to regulations and training requirements for the professional shipping industry. Other topics include environmental regulations, emissions standards, oil spill response and maritime emergency preparedness. Practical insights from rescue and operational missions will round off the programme. The full programme is due to be published by November 2026.

The Finnish National Rescue Association has been organising a seminar on government-run vessel operations during the Vene Båt Show for the past two years. Vili Heinikoski, the organisation’s chief safety expert, explains that the seminar brings together rescue services and other emergency response teams working at sea and on inland waterways. The Nordic Marine Expo expands the range of opportunities available to authorities and maritime professionals. Governmental vessel operations are currently developing rapidly, and the event aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of emergency services personnel.

Opening hours and access

On Thursday 18 February, the exhibition will be open from 9 am to 5 pm for trade visitors only. On Friday 19 February, visitors can visit the exhibition from 11 am to 5 pm. From his grandfather's self-built wooden opti and a Europe to a 49er and an X362 Sport, there was a lot to choose from. After leaving school, Puls decided to train as a boat builder at the high-tech shipyard Knierim Yachtbau in Kiel in 2016. He successfully completed his training in 2020 and stayed at the shipyard as a bachelor. In 2022, he decided not only to build boats, but also to test them. Since then, he has been working for Delius Klasing Verlag in the Test & Technology section of BOOTE magazine. The training he received and the eye for detail and quality of workmanship he acquired help him immensely today. Even though he is a regatta sailor with heart and soul, he feels right at home on motorboats and enjoys separating his professional and private lives and yet combining them. Because we all know one thing: there is simply no better place to be than on the water.
