The history of Searider is closely linked to that of founder Flavien Neyertz. The Nice native became the first jet surfing world champion in 2013 - still with a combustion engine - and founded the jetboard brand Esurf and the electric motor manufacturer Cobalt in Monaco. His latest venture is called Searider and combines his experience in e-surfing with that in motocross. Although the front skid is more reminiscent of a snowmobile.
What's more, a similar concept appeared in a James Bond film at the end of the 1970s under the name Wetbike. Neyertz's creation nevertheless knows how to set itself apart: The Searacer model relies on an electric drive and carbon monocoque. His Searacer weighs just 33 kilograms without batteries and 65 kilograms with batteries. The inverter and the drive train consisting of two electric motors with a total output of 33 kilowatts were developed in-house.
As the waterline is under the saddle, it should be easy to mount, the Sinker should glide quickly and reach over 40 knots. The highlight: acceleration is not via the brake lever as on a jet ski, but by turning the handle as on a motorbike. With an economical driving style, Searider promises 50-minute sessions. The Searacer takes 2.5 hours to charge and costs 27,950 euros.
The French recently presented a special edition of the sports model, which is manufactured in Greece, to coincide with the presentation of Renault's Stromer R5. Also on offer is the slightly cheaper Seacruiser, which has a Vespa look and comes in three retro colours.
