Patches for quick repairs to oilskins
The self-adhesive hex patches are particularly practical for repairing oilskins. Their hexagonal shape enables versatile combinations and prevents further tearing of the material. Application is simple: remove the protective film, stick the patch onto the damaged area and press on briefly - no sewing or ironing required. The adhesive adheres permanently to oilskins and other outdoor materials such as nylon, vinyl, rubber and plastic. Thanks to the waterproof coating, the patches are ideal for oilskin repairs as they can withstand frequent washing and harsh weather conditions. The sets are available in different colours: transparent, black, OD green, coyote, grey, green, blue and orange.
Special adhesives for long-lasting repairs
The Seam Grip from Gear Aid seals seams permanently, but is also suitable for repairing small tears and holes. Gear Aid offers the Aquasure SR polyurethane adhesive, which is produced in Germany, for highly stressed areas on oilskins. It is ideal for flexible repairs and offers excellent abrasion resistance. Aquasure FD can also be used as a seam sealer. The urethane adhesive cures to an elastic, abrasion-resistant and waterproof rubber and is also suitable for materials such as neoprene, PVC and rubber. Gear Aid also offers the products as co-ordinated sets. The Seam Grip+ WP Field Repair Kit contains self-adhesive textile patches and an adhesive with brush, which enables particularly long-lasting repairs. The Aquasure FD Repair Kit has been specially developed for maritime applications and oilskin repairs and is used to permanently repair waterproof clothing. Also useful is the Zipper Cleaner + Lubricant, which protects zips from corrosion and keeps them supple.
