GreenAkku offers comprehensive technology for solar power generation. With Toyo, the company is expanding its range with a new series of MPPT solar charge controllers. These are characterised by a good price-performance ratio. The manufacturer emphasises the high quality of workmanship and the diverse functions of the devices. A clear display makes it easy to configure and monitor the system. The product range includes four models with power capacities from 20 to 60 amps, which are suitable for different system sizes.
The entry-level Toyo SR-ML2420 model is designed for smaller solar systems and offers a rated output of 20 amps at 12 or 24 volts system voltage. It supports a maximum photovoltaic output of 260 watts at 12 volts or 520 watts at 24 volts. The price is 48 euros.
The SR-ML2430 is suitable for medium-sized systems with a rated current of 30 amps and a maximum PV output of 400 watts (12 volts) or 800 watts (24 volts) at a price of 69 euros. The SR-ML2440 is designed for larger systems and processes up to 40 amps with a maximum PV output of 550 watts (12 volts) or 1100 watts (24 volts). It costs 77 euros. The most powerful model, the SR-ML4860, supports system voltages from 12 to 48 volts at a rated current of 60 amps. The maximum PV output ranges from 800 watts at 12 volts to 3200 watts at 48 volts. The price is 157 euros.
The dimensions vary according to power: The 20 ampere model measures 21.0 x 15.10 x 5.95 centimetres. The 30 and 40 ampere models have the same dimensions at 23.80 x 17.30 x 7.25 centimetres. The largest solar charge controller with 60 amps measures 28.50 x 20.50 x 9.30 centimetres.
Toyo offers optional accessories for customising the solar charge controller. A Bluetooth dongle for 14 euros enables remote monitoring and control via smartphone app. An external temperature sensor is available for 8 euros for temperature-compensated charging. This automatically adjusts the charging parameters to the ambient temperature in order to extend battery life. According to the manufacturer, the controllers have a robust design with high-quality materials. Passive cooling without moving parts is intended to increase reliability and minimise noise.
All Toyo controllers use MPPT technology (Maximum Power Point Tracking) to optimise the energy yield. According to the manufacturer, the fast MPP tracking reacts flexibly to changing light conditions and partial shading. This should ensure particularly efficient charging. The charging parameters can be customised for different battery types such as lead-acid, AGM, gel and lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO₄). Integrated protective functions are designed to prevent overcharging and deep discharging of the battery. To this end, the load outputs can be programmed to switch off loads automatically when the state of charge is critical.
