BirdBoggle is an electronic scarecrow which, according to the manufacturer of the same name, discourages seagulls, pigeons and other birds from using boats as resting places. This job is done by a rotor mounted on the boat, which turns at regular intervals. BirdBoggle has an integrated microprocessor control system. The device runs on solar energy and therefore requires no external connection to the on-board power supply; thanks to a lithium-ion battery, it also works during long periods of bad weather. According to the manufacturer, the scarecrow is very robust and maintenance-free thanks to the splash-proof, impact-resistant plastic housing and can also be used for a wide range of applications - not just on boats. The scarecrow for all (sea) birds costs between €95 and €109, depending on the version.
