The WSV is now making its current water level data available not only on the Internet, but also with a practical web app for smartphones.

On the pages of Water level online provides free daily measurements of the approximately 500 inland and coastal gauges of the federal waterways. Gauge data, time series and a map view can be selected. The measurement data (such as water levels) is published several times a day and is even available within a few minutes for the German coast.

The web app also offers convenient search functions (such as an area search for gauges near the current location), personal direct access to gauges via the favourites folder, quick selection of all gauges with elevated water levels (highest navigable water level (HSW) reached or exceeded).

Thomas Menzel, President of the Waterways and Shipping Directorate East in Magdeburg, is delighted: "Our customers need up-to-date water levels quickly and easily. With PEGELONLINE MOBIL, we can offer exactly that - we are looking forward to the response."

The funding of 40,000 euros was provided by the federal government's IT investment programme. Pegelonline is technically operated and supported in Ilmenau (Thuringia) by the Information Technology Service Centre within the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development.
