A German and a Swiss also won the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup. More than 40 yachts competed off Porto Cervo this year.
The Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup is one of the most important events for big-boat owners with a passion for racing. This year, the sailing spectacle took place for the 26th time and attracted 40 yachts with lengths between 18 and 66 metres to the starting line. Victory in the Supermaxi division was secured by the Swiss Marco Vögele with his "Inoui" ahead of "Viriella" and "Hetairos". For the extremely competitive Maxi 72 fleet, the title of "Rolex Maxi 72 World Champion" was up for grabs off Porto Cervo, which Hap Fauth secured this year with his "Bella Mente" ahead of "Robertissima III" and "Momo". In the Wally class, the new IMA President Thomas Bscher won with his "Open Season" ahead of "Magic Carpet Cubed".
