The Federal Youth Council looked back on a successful season. In addition to finishing runner-up in the team competition at the World Inflatable Boat Championships in Latvia, there were numerous successful individual German placings. The German Championships in the MS11 class in Esslingen and the German Inflatable Boat Championships on the Beetzsee were well attended with a large starting field.
New software for the digitalisation of competition management was also presented at the conference. The racing licence is also to be digitalised and no longer issued in the form of a plastic card. The members of the Association Council took part in the meeting of the Federal Youth Council in order to promote dialogue with youth sport. With the exception of Bavaria, all DMYV regional associations were represented. The increasing difficulties in being able to use suitable public water areas for motorised water sports, as well as the complex and cost-intensive organisation of sporting events and lack of training facilities, led the DMYV to consider setting up its own performance centre. The DMYV is in talks with the operator of a large gravel extraction area and the city of Erfurt to examine the possibilities for utilisation.
When planning the budget for the coming year, the support of the experts from the newly established "Finance and Insurance" department came into play for the first time. Around 50 per cent of the budget is earmarked for the promotion of youth, competitive and popular sports. An impressive proportion compared to other sports associations. The financial support for racing remains in place. However, a rescue team equipped by the DMYV will no longer be provided for racing events.
It was also decided to step up the promotion of motosurfing in cooperation with the MotoSurf Club Germany, which is a member of the DMYV. Two boards with electric drives are to be purchased here to enable interested parties and beginners to get into the sport under the expert guidance of experienced trainers. German motosurfers will take part in the World Games in China next year.
In addition, the ageing national fleet of MS youth sport boats is due for renewal. Since this year, the so-called triangular files made of GRP have been equipped with 15 hp outboards from DMYV partner Mercury and used for match races in slalom sport. Numerous regional associations and clubs have their own boats and make them available. The boat has now been optimised in detail and a new prototype has been built. The purchase can be subsidised.
