It has never been easier to attract high-calibre speakers than for the conference next February. "All of our favourite speakers accepted immediately," says BOOTE EXCLUSIV editor-in-chief Martin Hager. "Moving the event from Düsseldorf to Hamburg was a good decision, and the participants and speakers at this year's GSC were delighted with the programme and the networking atmosphere between the presentations."
The industry get-together has established itself and the date at the end of February fits perfectly into the yachting calendar. "For the 9th edition of our conference, we are even lucky that our event does not overlap with a trade fair for the first time," says Hager.
As every year, the 9th edition of the GSC guarantees an interesting variety of topics. Yacht designer Philippe Briand will be travelling from London to talk about his design principles and explain how yachting can become even "greener" and more energy-efficient with the help of design.
Laurence Lewis, Managing Director of the Antibes-based agency YPI Crew, will provide in-depth insights into the world of yacht service and reveal the strategies the yachting industry can use to tackle the problem of crew shortages. The HR expert already revealed some exciting approaches to us in the interview on page 170.
After Lürssen's Sales Manager Michael Breman was already set to speak last year, but then had to cancel due to his schedule, we are particularly looking forward to the yachting veteran's presentation. His exciting topic is "Size matters - how big is a superyacht?"
With art expert Pandora Mather-Lees, GSC guests can expect a look behind the art backdrop of yachts. "Many owners use their yacht as an art gallery," says Mather-Lees. "Many a museum is envious of the floating collections, which require special attention due to their enormous value."
Burgess CEO Jonathan Beckett, a true yachting heavyweight, will take to the GSC stage. He will dissect the trends in the market and show how yachting customers have changed over the last few years.
Matthias Voit, Worldwide Spa Business Developer at Dornbracht, will take us into the world of exclusive wellness oases and reveal which spa details today's owners no longer want to do without.
As usual, the number of participants at the conference is limited to 150 guests. Registration has been open since October via the GSC website: superyacht-conference.com

Martin Hager

Editor in Chief YACHT

Martin Hager is editor-in-chief of the titles YACHT and BOOTE EXCLUSIV and has been working for Delius Klasing Verlag for 20 years. He was born in Heidelberg in 1978 and started sailing at the age of six, in an Opti of course. This was soon followed by 420s, Sprinta Sport and 470s, which he also sailed on the regatta course with his brother. His parents regularly took him on charter trips through the Greek and Balearic Islands. Even at a young age, it was clear to him that he wanted to turn his passion for water sports into a career. After graduating from high school and completing an internship at the Rathje boatbuilding company in Kiel, it was clear that he did not want to become a classic boatbuilder. Instead, he successfully studied shipbuilding and marine engineering in the Schleswig-Holstein state capital and focused on yacht design wherever he could. His diploma thesis dealt with the “Testing of a new speed prediction method for sailing yachts”. In 2004, the superyacht magazine BOOTE EXCLUSIV was looking for an editor with technical and nautical background knowledge, a position that was perfect for Martin Hager. The application was successful and a two-year traineeship was arranged. After twelve years as an editor, the editorial team changed and he took over responsibility for BOOTE EXCLUSIV as editor-in-chief in 2017. After long-time YACHT editor-in-chief Jochen Rieker moved to the role of publisher, Martin Hager also took over the position of editor-in-chief of Europe's largest sailing magazine YACHT, which is celebrating its 120th anniversary this year, at the beginning of 2023. When he's not working on topics for the two water sports titles, Martin Hager likes to go out on the water himself - preferably with kite and wingfoil equipment or on a little after-work trip across the Alster.
