On Pellworm, just 15 nautical miles across from Husum and 2500 nautical miles from Monaco, everything is a little different: the channel is only 2.20 metres deep, dykes instead of promenades, grass instead of beaches, tideways instead of anchor bays. Not really superyacht territory, but the perfect place to go into seclusion, exchange ideas and explore new paths. The motto of the first Superyacht Summit was: Our industry in five years - challenges and opportunities. 63 participants enjoyed the sea air, local food, mudflat walks and, of course, presentations. Philipp von Arnim, Head of Business Development at Lürssen, emphasised the need for young professionals to network even more within the industry and highlighted the importance of YPY in building bridges into the world of superyachts for career changers.
Eric Malinski and Tatiana Rusanova from Al Seer Marine in Abu Dhabi were impressed by the beauty of the Wadden Sea landscape and the relaxed format of the very well-organised event. Stina Krause (Head of Marketing and Sales Management Abeking & Rasmussen) looks back on "great days with stimulating discussions about the future of the yachting industry in terms of sustainability, technology, design priorities and the prospects for young professionals, especially in Germany". The general consensus was that the players should dare to engage in more dialogue.
The sled race offered sporty team building on typical sledges that were specially made on Pellworm and adorned with the logos of the main sponsors. The idea came from YPY member Jan Ole Hagen, who grew up on Pellworm and organised the event with Hubertus Jürgens, Sascha Meinhardt and Maria di Benedetto. A repeat of YPY's Superyacht Summit is very likely.
Hubertus Jürgens, Vice President of YPY Germany, summarised: "We are overjoyed that, thanks to the great teamwork and commitment of everyone involved and the fantastic support of our partners, we were able to organise an event in a very short space of time that far exceeded expectations and expectations. We are already looking ahead again and want to take the momentum from the event to further increase the added value and attractiveness for partners and members".
