For the Pilot's Watch Chronograph Spitfire (Ref. IW387901 and IW387902), IWC is using a chronograph movement from the 69000-calibre family for the first time in its pilot's watches.
The Spitfire, designed by Reginald J. Mitchell, is considered one of the most sophisticated developments in the history of aviation.

This is exactly how the typical instrument design of IWC's pilot's watches was created in response to specific engineering requirements from military aviation
