Three days of boating fun and intensive practice lie behind the participants of the BOOTE boating training course, which took place on Mallorca for the first time in March. The training is aimed at both beginners and experienced boaters. A boating licence is not a prerequisite. There will be another edition in the autumn!

There are worse places to improve your boating skills. The regular boating training courses offered by BOOTE magazine under the guidance of experienced skippers offer the perfect opportunity to do just that. And now also against the breathtaking backdrop of the Balearic Islands.

Manoeuvres, theory and safety training

The team of trainers from the Onwater boat school welcomed the 25 participants in the harbour of Port Calanova in the bay of Palma. After a short theory session, the participants boarded the five boats from Boote Polch. There was a Nimbus T11, a Nimbus W9, two Axopar 37 SunTops and an Axopar 25 to choose from. The programme included classic harbour and mooring manoeuvres, anchoring in bays, but also lots of fun at higher speeds. From the basics of boating to advanced manoeuvres, there was something for everyone. In addition to a total of five practical trips, the three-day training programme included short theory sessions on the challenges of boating in the Mediterranean and around Mallorca in particular. The programme was rounded off by a safety training session led by Pantaenius. The experts demonstrated how a life raft and a survival suit work in the Onwater boat school pool and introduced the "safety bags" that should be on every boat.

Due to the high demand, there will be a second driver training course together with Pantaenius and Onwater in Port Calanova from 3 to 5 October 2024. Here go to the registration!

Jill Grigoleit was born in Hanover in 1985. An early childhood memory is the large collection of YACHT and SURF magazines from her sailing and surfing enthusiast father. However, growing up in a small Swabian village on the Neckar, she had less to do with water sports in her childhood, apart from a few trips to the Baltic Sea with her family. After studying journalism in Bremen and Hanover, she went into television for a few years. Through a few lucky coincidences, she ended up on the water in 2011 and then returned to the written word professionally. For over ten years, she lived with her family on a houseboat in their own harbor south of Hamburg and wrote a book about houseboat building and life with children on the water. Since 2020, she has mainly been writing travel reports and features about people who live and work on and near the water for BOOTE. She has been a permanent member of the Delius Klasing water sports editorial team since January 2024.
