The Caribbean regatta had to cancel its sails again due to health uncertainties and travel restrictions.

Supersailors from all over the world were to compete against each other in the St Barths Bucket from 17 to 20 March. Among others, the Spirit 111 "Geist" had registered. The cult event had already suffered the same fate in 2020 due to coronavirus.

The event, in which the participants sail for a bucket, has been around for 36 years. What began as a fun event on the US East Coast has been held in the Caribbean since 1995 with growing sporting ambition. For the 2021 edition, the provisional entry list was recently divided into three groups: Yachts that were certain to take part (fewer than five); yachts that signalled their intention to take part and yachts that expressed interest.

The cancellation was announced by the Bucket Stewards, as the organisers call themselves in reference to sports stewards, who are made up of representatives from large yacht shipyards and marinas, among others. In 2022, the St Barths Bucket will once again attract maxis, perinis, Js and many more to the port of Gustavia from 17 to 20 March.
