The new regatta format began with a long haul from the STP shipyard in Palma towards Marina Ibiza. On the first leg of the Ibiza JoySail, the four starters covered sixty nautical miles between the cape of Punta Cala Figuera and Tagomago. The wind weakened at the start, but the aim was to set a new record for the crossing. The race continued with 40 nautical miles, including to Formentera. The winner of the first Ibiza JoySail is called "Moat". A crew of 37 sailed the ex-"Highland Fling 15", a Swan 115 from 2016, and was level with the Dubois 120 "Bliss" on the final day according to calculated time. "Shamanna", another Swan 115, finished in third place ahead of the Swan 80 "Dark Horse". "Moat" owner Juan Ball has already registered for the second edition, which will take place from 22 to 25 September.
