Superyacht programme for the America's Cup | up
Preparations for the 36th Cup (6 to 21 March 2021 in New Zealand) are naturally in full swing among the teams, but the infrastructure and supporting programme are also taking shape.
During the Superyacht Cup in Palma, the organising Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron presented a number of initiatives designed to attract superyachts to the Auckland region in particular. These include, of course, the Millennium Cups in January/February 2020 and 2021, a Fishing Tournament for superyachts in Russell, two J-Class regattas and the Yacht Squadron's own superyacht regatta, which will be celebrating its 150th anniversary. Vice Commodore Aaron Young said: "Visitors can look forward to authentic hospitality, excellent sailing conditions and fantastic sailing areas." Berths are already being increased on site to accommodate the expected fleet of large yachts.
