Watch out, thieves! High-quality outboard motors have been stolen again. (symbolic image)
Last week, a motorboat owner in Stralsund fell victim to criminals. Both outboard motors were stolen from his boat. The thieves apparently spared no expense.

The boat, which was on a trailer, was parked on the island of Dänholm in the Strelasund in the area of the local water sports centre. According to current police information, unknown persons gained access to the site during the night from Wednesday to Thursday and removed two high-quality 200 hp outboards from the boat. This was reported by the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern State Water Police Office.

According to the police, they are white-painted Mercury boat engines. Their total value is around 45,000 euros. The special feature: Each engine weighs over 200 kilograms. The thieves must have had special equipment to be able to remove the heavy outboard motors from the stern of the boat and load them into their transport vehicle.

Police hope for witnesses

Although the criminal investigation department secured extensive evidence, they are also hoping for witnesses who observed the theft or the removal of the engines. Information can be provided to any police station or via the Online watch be reported.

The incident is reminiscent of a similar theft not so long ago: In December, criminals also stole very large and correspondingly expensive outboard motors from boats in Laboe and Wendtorf. The logistics of the thieves must have been considerable there too. The police suspected that the crime had been committed by well-equipped, organised gangs. The damage there totalled 80,000 euros.
