The season is slowly entering its second half, and that means one thing above all: it's trade fair time again. Interboot in Friedrichshafen will take place from 25 to 29 September and will once again showcase the world of water sports on Lake Constance. One big difference to previous years: This year, the trade fair will no longer be held over nine days as usual, but in a shortened form. New boats can be viewed and trips planned for five days. There will also be presentations and workshops. The reduced duration has been well received by the boatyards. Exhibitor surveys also led to this decision. Manufacturers such as HanseYachts and Beneteau are now taking part again and showcasing their product portfolio.
"We've got a lot planned," promises project manager Felix Klarmann. "Visitors can look forward to a varied programme that goes far beyond a traditional trade fair." The trend sports area, for example, has been given a new name and will be presented as Interboard in Hall A5. Action events with a high fun factor are also planned. Stars from the scene will perform on various show stages and offer a varied entertainment programme. Interboot extends over eight exhibition halls, the outdoor area, the exhibition lake and the Interboot harbour. Everything here revolves around the latest trends and innovations in the water sports industry.
For the first time, the topic of towing vehicles and caravans will also be presented in Hall B4. One of the highlights will be trailer training from electric vehicle manufacturer Nio, where visitors can improve their own skills or learn how to drive a trailer in the first place.
An extensive programme of lectures and numerous workshops will be held in the A3 sailing hall. This year, there will also be a search-and-rescue seminar and plenty to try out.
Hall A5 is the Interboard trend sports hall: this is the centre for water sports enthusiasts who are interested in trend sports such as foiling, surfing and stand-up paddling. A new feature is a shallow water pool where visitors can try out skimboarding for the first time. Skimboard professionals will be demonstrating their skills here every day. The hall also offers extended opening hours until 7 p.m. on weekdays so that visitors have enough time to take advantage of the various offers.
The Interboot harbour will be further expanded this year and offers a wide range of activities: Those wishing to improve their mooring and casting off skills can take advantage of the harbour manoeuvre Freshup as part of the Interboot Academy. The programme also includes the International Ocean Film Tour, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary at Interboot. The new edition shows fascinating stories of committed environmentalists, surfers and extreme sports enthusiasts from all over the world.
Visitors can try out various water sports such as kayaking, canoeing and sailing on the exhibition lake. A daily wingfoil show provides an additional programme.
The traditional Swiss Day on Thursday, 26 September, offers special activities for visitors from Switzerland, who can visit the trade fair free of charge on this day. Historically, Swiss companies have contributed significantly to the creation of Interboot, which is why this tradition is still upheld today.
For the first time, one ticket entitles the holder to visit two trade fairs. Admission to InterDive (26 to 29 September 2024) is included in the ticket price. For 25 September, before the start of InterDive, there will be a "Wednesday Special": two Interboot tickets for the price of one. For visitors who have time during the week in the afternoon, there is the "afternoon ticket" (from 3 p.m.) from Wednesday to Friday, which is available online for 7 euros and already includes a parking ticket. Another novelty is the day ticket with a guest berth in the harbour, including a free shuttle to the trade fair. There are also family tickets, VIP parking spaces and combination tickets. Until 1 September 2024, buyers will receive a 25 percent discount on the 1-day ticket for adults with the code IB24SUMMER.
