Friedrichshafen: Interboot is going on a journey through time with a special show from 18 to 26 September 2021.

For its 60th edition, Interboot Friedrichshafen is recording enormous growth: 50 percent more exhibition space, 40 percent more exhibitors (a good 260), and the number of boats has also increased by 40 percent compared to the corona-related "Special Edition" in 2020. detailed information and the complete programme of the international water sports exhibition can be found on the website www.interboot.de. To mark its anniversary, Interboot is taking its guests on a colourful journey through six decades of water sports in a special show.

1962: First water sports exhibition in Friedrichshafen The range of boats on offer at the IBO consumer trade fair has been steadily increasing since 1950, and in 1962 the topic was given its own platform at the first "International Boat Show on Lake Constance" from 6 to 14 October. Of 94 exhibitors, 40 came from abroad. The exhibition centre has been located at the western Riedlepark in Friedrichshafen since 1954. The water sports exhibition is the first of its kind to take place in autumn and therefore at the end of the season. The date is therefore the subject of much discussion among experts. It soon becomes clear that the timing is perfect for the manufacturers' working rhythm, and the exhibition becomes the most important economic barometer in the industry. Another special feature: the demonstration harbour on Lake Constance. Until 1991, the exhibition in Friedrichshafen is the only water sports exhibition in Germany with an integrated harbour that offers potential customers the opportunity to test drive a boat before buying. In 1962, motorboats take centre stage and visitors are very interested in the latest technology. For example, a revolutionary Wankel engine with Star-Jet turbo drive, which is used in a sports boat for the first time, causes a sensation. Despite the low height of the halls, there is also room for full-size sailing boats: the ceiling panels of the halls are removed and the masts rise into the sky.1963: Water sports show with the name Interboot for the first time After great success, the water sports show enters its second round and is renamed Interboot. The number of exhibitors increases significantly.
