The 20th Boot & Fun
The 20th Boot & Fun Berlin promises excitement like never before: many boat premieres and a new travel partner.

"Rediscover the world" is the motto of the Berlin Travel Festival, which will take place for the first time from 25 to 27 November 2022 in conjunction with Boot & Fun Berlin and three other leisure trade fairs: TheFishing World Berlin, theCar Camping Caravanand theTransporterDays Berlin.

It would be a fitting title for all five exhibitions taking place from 23 to 27 November in the exhibition halls under the Berlin Radio Tower. Because new, sustainable approaches and paths will be visible in all areas. You can see the highlights from the boat area in our gallery above!

Daniel Barkowski, project manager of Boot & Fun Berlin for ten years, has landed a coup with the synergetic trade fair combination: Anyone who buys a ticket for the Berlin Exhibition Centre on the above-mentioned days in November can visit five exhibitions from different leisure sectors. Around 1200 exhibitors will be showcasing their products, services and themed worlds on an area of around 85,000 square metres.

How has travelling changed?

The Berlin Travel Festival brings its motto to life in more ways than one. If the change from the International Tourism Exchange to Boot & Fun Berlin in itself brings new experiences for the organising team of adventurers of all kinds, it is above all its content that defines it: This year, the organisers, exhibitors and speakers want to explore how travelling has changed compared to the time before the outbreak of the pandemic and the war in Ukraine. "Drastic global changes have not only altered our view of the world, but habits and routines that we have grown fond of have also become obsolete or sometimes feel absurd," reads a press release.

"On the one hand, many of us have questioned our own travel behaviour; on the other, we have been forced to replan our trips. Be it due to new travel regulations and rules, or because certain travel formats and destinations simply no longer seemed up-to-date, or simply because we didn't have the money." That's why, according to Bernd Neff, founder of this special event format, "we want to present ways and methods of 'rediscovering the world' at the Travel Festival." In addition to a large number of exhibitors, the centrepiece of the festival will be an extensive stage programme. The audience can expect exciting travel lectures, a series of panel discussions with travel experts, workshops and an extensive family hands-on programme. www.berlintravelfestival.com

Boot & Fun itself promises no less excitement than its new travel partner. In its core segment, it is more international than ever. The list of boat premieres is correspondingly long, of which we present a quartet in the gallery above. The trend towards sustainability and electromobility is also unmistakable here.

Boot & Fun success story

After the 10th edition, the host Messe Berlin GmbH added the increasingly attractive guest trade fair to its "own event portfolio". Since the 11th Boot & Fun in 2012, Daniel Barkowski has been the project manager responsible for organising the water sports exhibition in the capital. Together with his dedicated trade fair team, he has honed and developed this "rough diamond" and firmly anchored it in the circle of major boat shows in Germany.

Barkowski will also be celebrating his own anniversary from 23 to 27 November: it will be the 10th edition and he will be setting the course as "captain". He is doing his thing unwaveringly: with Boot & Fun inwater in late summer, he created a flourishing kick-off event for the indoor trade fair under the Berlin Radio Tower in autumn, which strengthens the core segment of Boot & Fun. Daniel Barkowski is expecting the vast majority of boats that were presented and test-driven in their element in Werder (Havel) to be on show at the 20th Boot & Fun in the Berlin exhibition halls - and many more.

Creation of a leisure experience mobility network under Barkowski

Barkowski's unmistakable signature is the search for synergies. This means bringing suitable partners on board to promote each other for the benefit of the industry. TheFishing World Berlinwas already part of Boot & Fun when Barkowski took over, and is now one of the most popular meeting places for sport and leisure anglers at national and international level.

In 2021, at the successful comeback of the Berlin boat show after a one-year break due to the coronavirus, for the first timeCar Camping CaravanandTransporterDays Berlinat the start.

In 2022, this leisure experience mobility network will even expand into a quintet: the fifth in the group will be theBerlin Travel Festival. Its roots lie in the International Tourism Exchange (ITB) Berlin. Following the reorganisation of the ITB into a trade fair for trade visitors only, its previous public area now has a new home under the umbrella of Boot & Fun Berlin (Hall 6.2). And for Daniel Barkowski, this means that his long-pursued goal of a multi-faceted travel sector is becoming a reality.
