The 242 metre long "Luminara" expands the fleet of the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection. The exclusive cruise ship was recently handed over in Saint-Nazaire and will embark on its maiden voyage in the Mediterranean on 3 July. With 226 suites and exclusive furnishings, the "Luminara" new standards in the luxury segment.

The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection recently took delivery of its third ship after "Evrima" (2021) and "Ilma" (2024). The 242-metre-long yacht liner was built by the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard and completes the hotel chain's cruise ship fleet.

Exclusive facilities for discerning guests

"Luminara" offers space for up to 452 guests in 226 suites. Each suite has a private terrace and floor-to-ceiling windows. Five restaurants, seven bars and a wine cellar ensure culinary diversity on board. The cooperation with award-winning chefs Fabio Trabocchi and Michael Mina should appeal to haute cuisine lovers in particular. Other amenities include a panoramic pool area with two whirlpools on deck 10 and an "Art Bar" offering café service and local specialities. The brand's own "marina concept" with terrace and floating platform provides direct access to the sea. Wellness enthusiasts will find relaxation and exercise in the Ritz-Carlton Spa and fitness rooms.

Cruises around the globe

The "Luminara" maiden voyage begins on 3 July with a seven-day trip from Monaco to Rome. This will be followed by routes along the African coast and in the Indian Ocean. From December 2025, the ship will explore the waters of Asia and the Pacific with stops in Halong Bay, Osaka and Bangkok. Voyages to Alaska and Canada are planned for May 2026.

Exclusive cruise holidays are booming

The market for yacht liners has grown strongly in recent years. The luxury hotel brand Aman presents its first yacht liner "Amangati"which will be travelling from 2027. With just 47 suites, a large spa area and fine dining, the yacht liner designed by Sinot Design promises a unique cruise experience. The ship can be booked via companies such as OceanEvent also available for private charter.

Those who would like to live on board for longer should familiarise themselves with the concept of residential yachts. One example of this is the 320 metre long yacht liner "Ulyssia", which, as the world's largest residential yacht, will offer 250 wealthy residents a home at sea from March 2029. The mix of gigayacht and cruiser combines luxury living with world travel and philanthropic destinations.

Martin Hager

Editor in Chief YACHT

Martin Hager is editor-in-chief of the titles YACHT and BOOTE EXCLUSIV and has been working for Delius Klasing Verlag for 20 years. He was born in Heidelberg in 1978 and started sailing at the age of six, in an Opti of course. This was soon followed by 420s, Sprinta Sport and 470s, which he also sailed on the regatta course with his brother. His parents regularly took him on charter trips through the Greek and Balearic Islands. Even at a young age, it was clear to him that he wanted to turn his passion for water sports into a career. After graduating from high school and completing an internship at the Rathje boatbuilding company in Kiel, it was clear that he did not want to become a classic boatbuilder. Instead, he successfully studied shipbuilding and marine engineering in the Schleswig-Holstein state capital and focused on yacht design wherever he could. His diploma thesis dealt with the “Testing of a new speed prediction method for sailing yachts”. In 2004, the superyacht magazine BOOTE EXCLUSIV was looking for an editor with technical and nautical background knowledge, a position that was perfect for Martin Hager. The application was successful and a two-year traineeship was arranged. After twelve years as an editor, the editorial team changed and he took over responsibility for BOOTE EXCLUSIV as editor-in-chief in 2017. After long-time YACHT editor-in-chief Jochen Rieker moved to the role of publisher, Martin Hager also took over the position of editor-in-chief of Europe's largest sailing magazine YACHT, which is celebrating its 120th anniversary this year, at the beginning of 2023. When he's not working on topics for the two water sports titles, Martin Hager likes to go out on the water himself - preferably with kite and wingfoil equipment or on a little after-work trip across the Alster.
