It is by no means the case that those responsible at Performance Marine have deaf ears. They know their customers' wish lists inside out, but a new boat that closes the gap between the 1107 and 1407 in the model range is not something that can just be plucked out of thin air. A new development of this size costs just under a million euros, and that has to be earned before it can be invested. It was also impossible to ignore the desire for a hardtop, which was expressed by the ladies.
Incidentally, men have always got what they want at Performance. That's why, in addition to size, a hardtop version, separate bedrooms and a spacious bathroom, the development plan for the 1307 naturally also included an emphatically sporty design and powerful engines.
Together with first-class workmanship, professional installations - where "superfluous" electronics are deliberately avoided in favour of robust mechanics - and good looks, these are the hallmarks of Performance. Outfit and equipment are largely determined by the owner (see BOOTE 5/08), who has more than just a say in the colour of the gelcoat or paintwork and the design of the interior. "We do everything on request, except install the engines at the front," says UschiWoebel, responsible for production, describing the shipyard's flexibility in one sentence.
Of course, taste is debatable, but a powerboat fan is unlikely to be impressed by conservative shapes and conventional drives. "Our target group," says Performance Managing Director Werner Sonderwald readily, "are people who want something beautiful.
