The company ePropulsion has developed the eLite, a new electric outboard motor. The drive is shaped like a rudder blade and contains both motor and battery. The 500 watt electric motor is ideal for dinghies.
It can be easily detached from the bracket on the mirror and taken along. It is controlled using a tiller, which also contains the rotating throttle lever and acts as a handle when carried. There is a display on the top that shows the charge level, for example, and the on/off switch. The attachment can be moved so that the shaft length can be adjusted. There is also a USB output for charging a smartphone, for example.
The eLite measures 297 x 75 x 890 millimetres and weighs 6.7 kilograms. The battery has 378 watt hours, which should enable 4.7 knots for around 45 minutes or 3.7 knots for 90 minutes. Price: 1,099 euros.
