Following our engine comparison test in an Aquador 28 HT with various 370 hp diesels (see BOOTE 12/11), we have now tested the smallest Aquador hardtop version, the 23 HT, as a candidate for another diesel comparison. As with the 28 HT, the Bella Boats shipyard also offers three different engine manufacturers for this boat.
engine manufacturers for this boat. The owner can choose between Mercury, Volvo Penta and Yanmar. In terms of power, the spectrum in our test ranges from 220 to 265 hp. The selectable engine range includes engine/drive combinations between 200 and 270 hp.

About the boat: The Aquador 23 HT is a 7.15 m long sports boat with five berths. Due to its width of 2.56 m, road transport is only possible with an overwidth licence. When travelling on the water, the skipper must pay attention to the 2.05 m clearance height and 0.85 m draught. In terms of workmanship and installations, this is a typical Scandinavian boat: all the work was carried out professionally and cleanly by the shipyard staff.
The engines in our test trio are Mercury TDI 3.0-265HO, Volvo Penta D3-220 and Yanmar 6BY2-260Z.

You can find the complete test in the 02/2012 BOOTE issue.
