Thanks to its compact dimensions of 125 mm in length and a weight of 35 kg, the hybrid system from Nanni-Diesel can also be installed in smaller engine compartments. To do this, the engine is detached from the gearbox and the hybrid unit is placed in between. According to the manufacturer, the 580 mm long control panel for the control system can be installed close to or in the engine compartment. The retrofittable engines from Nanni are 21 hp to 200 hp.

There are plans to adapt the hybrid system to other transmissions - this will make it possible to use the unit with engines from other manufacturers. Nanni demonstrates the performance of the system on a sports boat measuring just under seven metres with a Nanni T4-165 diesel and the 24 V intercalated hybrid system. With a battery capacity of 450 Ah, a maximum speed of 4.8 kn was achieved. At a cruising speed of 2.5 kn with the electric drive, the batteries are empty after around three hours and forty-five minutes. They drain more quickly at higher speeds: At four knots, for example, the "juice" runs out after just one hour and eleven minutes. Further information and prices for the hybrid system are available from the Nanni diesel dealer.
