"You can feel the difference straight away!" Ron Huibers, boss at Volvo Penta of the Americas, immediately goes into raptures when the new V8 petrol engines are presented. In mid-February, they were on show at the Miami International Boat Show for the first time. The V8-380 and V8-430 should accelerate significantly better than their predecessors. With 380 and 430 hp and 6.2 litres of displacement respectively, did you expect anything else? The two new models are promised to be more fuel-efficient, which is due less to GM's aluminium block than to the in-house equipment with dual-circuit cooling, electronic direct injection and variable valve control. The buyer has a choice of drive systems: Forward Drive or DPS.
