If you want to buy a new "powerhouse", you usually pore over the catalogues of the various manufacturers in search of the right engine for your skipper and boat. The different table formats in these "catalogues" often make it difficult to compare the individual engines with each other. BOOTE has therefore summarised the most important data in the adjacent and the following lists to make it easier for you to choose the right engine.
What else should you look out for? When it comes to the warranty, there are logical differences between the individual manufacturers. For example, a Honda customer can extend the three-year manufacturer's warranty by two years for an additional charge. And the standard scope of delivery sometimes differs even between models from the same manufacturer: the light coil is standard on the Selva 6 hp with remote control, but is only available for an additional charge on the manual start model.
You also have to pay a little extra for a propeller on Honda outboards from 40 hp, which is included in the basic price for other manufacturers. - Skippers looking for an alternative to a petrol-powered outboard can find a selection of currently available engines on the last page of this market overview.
