The first European twin engine from Tohatsu celebrated its premiere at boot Düsseldorf 2024. At the Travemünde Week 2024, the engines and the specially developed boat had to show what they were made of in front of 600,000 visitors.

Friedrich Marx GmbH & Co. KG, the general importer of Tohatsu in Europe, has introduced an impressive innovation to the European market in close cooperation with Rheinlandboote: the first twin motorisation with Tohatsu engines. This project was presented to the public at boot Düsseldorf 2024. At the unveiling, the focus was on two bright white, powerful 140 hp MFS140A outboard engines mounted on an aluminium boat specially designed for the trade fair. The motorisation marks an important milestone for Tohatsu, especially as the MFS140A is considered the flagship of Tohatsu outboard engines.

With an impressively low weight of just 189 kg, the MFS140A is the lightest outboard motor in its performance class according to the manufacturer. The engine features the 4-2-1 performance exhaust system, which not only enables good acceleration, but also offers higher torque and increased top speed. This combination of light weight and performance makes the MFS140A the ideal choice for a wide range of boat types and applications, especially for demanding offshore adventures.

Another highlight of the presentation was the specially developed aluminium boat, which was designed by Rheinlandboote in close cooperation with Tohatsu. Rheinlandboote, a well-known developer and manufacturer of fishing boats, is venturing into the world of saltwater fishing boats with the new SaltPatrol 720 model. Until now, the company was primarily known for its popular freshwater boats such as the Pikehunter, Bass and C-Fusion series. With the SaltPatrol 720, the shipyard is now entering a new era and expanding its portfolio with robust boats that have been specially developed for the harsh conditions of saltwater. With a total weight of less than 2.5 tonnes, including the twin engine configuration with the two MFS140A engines and an accompanying trailer, the boat is easy to trailer.

Interested parties can purchase the boat with twin engine on request from RhinelandBoats test.

Ole Puls was born in Schleswig in 1999. He quickly swapped the football pitch for the Schlei and grew up sailing a wide variety of dinghies and tall ships. From his grandfather's self-built wooden opti and a Europe to a 49er and an X362 Sport, there was a lot to choose from. After leaving school, Puls decided to train as a boat builder at the high-tech shipyard Knierim Yachtbau in Kiel in 2016. He successfully completed his training in 2020 and stayed at the shipyard as a bachelor. In 2022, he decided not only to build boats, but also to test them. Since then, he has been working for Delius Klasing Verlag in the Test & Technology section of BOOTE magazine. The training he received and the eye for detail and quality of workmanship he acquired help him immensely today. Even though he is a regatta sailor with heart and soul, he feels right at home on motorboats and enjoys separating his professional and private lives and yet combining them. Because we all know one thing: there is simply no better place to be than on the water.
